Seems you installed DPC to try and help you discover your "culprit", and one by one you disabled tasks shown in Task Manager that you felt were non-critical.
Eventually you found that you were back to green. But you never revealed the actual details of actually what you did or who was the "culprit"!
So which was the one or several tasks which are no no longer running in your system that has you now showing all green?
Obviously it wasn't any change to power settings which you say was unsuccessful in preventing your freeze. So it must have been something else you did. What was it?? Am I misreading your post? I don't get the "answer" to your freeze problem, if you've posted one that has allowed you to now run with no more freeze. Please clarify. Still up and counting.
The problem turned out to be Malwarebytes Premium. Not all, but many. Around the world. Millions of users were potentially affected and they told people to revert to an earlier version until they could figure out what the problem was and fix it. About a month later, thanks to many thousands of user-submitted diagnostic ZIP files with logs, etc. They released an update, and said it was now "safe" to use their product again in a Win7 environment.
So I did. Well, turns out they really hadn't fixed ALL of whatever they had broken in their product for Win7. Many, or most, Win7 users were indeed probably now once again running freeze-free. But obviously not me and my own unique setup. And a Windows Update for Win7 was really an extremely low probability for finding a culprit. Anyway, after pretty much exhausting everything else software-wise that I could try, and after replacing one of my previously failing homebuilt HTPC ASUS-based desktop machines with a new Lenovo Mt and transferring all of the internals and HTPC-related hardware, and again activating WMC on the machine and still seeing the freeze I knew it couldn't explicitly be hardware-only that was the cause.
I replaced these two products with Bitdefender Total Security , which is a very highly rated product supposedly providing equivalent "total protection" to what I was uninstalling.
No more freeze! Perfection again. Additional communication with the software vendor to provide my findings reveals that a they very much appreciate my new information and findings, and b their own ongoing analysis and research into this apparently still-occurring freeze symptom caused by their product for a very few remaining Win7 users, seemed to suggest a possible connection to also running Macrium Reflect which indeed I do. So I can't see how that's truly relevant. And the other is from the Ceton TV tuner card.
